Families that are new to having a session with me typically haven’t had photos taken in a long time. Maybe not since their wedding or when their first child was born. Some haven’t ever had professional photos at all. There are common concerns about having a family session like, will my kids act up or will my husband/partner be cooperative. In this blog post I will share some of the things you can expect from a family session with me.
What to expect from a Family Photo Session with me!
Everyone will have fun
When a family has a session with me and sees their gallery after their session, usually I will get feedback that they are love how their photos look like everyone is having so much fun and that I caught them in their natural element. Most likely you have seen my portfolio and were probably looking for a photographer that could give you these kinds of images.
It is important to note that each family is different and because of that every families gallery will look different. Kids have different personalities and families have different dynamics. If you have a super active child you may not get the super snuggly photos but more high energy images like throwing your kids in the air or running under a blanket. Despite each families uniqueness you will still receive photos full of genuine joy, connection and a natural look.
My goal is for your family to look like your natural selves and to express genuine joy
There are some things that I will always do during all of my sessions to achieve my goals for your gallery.
Your images will have good light, whether we have clear skies or an overcast day.
We will get at least one image of everyone looking at the camera.
Most of your images in your gallery will not have anyone looking at the camera, but instead connecting with each other.
There will be a few images in your gallery that will have a unique artist twist.
I will make you snuggle, be affectionate and show genuine emotion.
We will dance, play and have fun.

Let go of any expectations that you might have had from your search on Pinterest. I won’t ever guarantee that I will replicate another photographers work. I will give you images similar to the ones that you have seen in my portfolio. If you come into a session with me with an open mind and heart, be your authentic self and allow yourself to have fun, you will love your gallery. You will love it because it will reflect your beautiful family just how you are.
So this could mean that one of your kids doesn’t smile at all during the session or your child never stops moving for that snuggly loving shot. Some day down the road you will have a story to tell about how at this certain age they never smiled for anyone or never stopped moving! Embrace you family just as they are because your uniqueness is what makes you beautiful.
How you will know if we are not a perfect fit
When looking for the best photographer for you it can sometimes be hard to tell which photographer will be the perfect fit for your family. I like to work with a wide range of different families. From different ages to personalities. But there are some points that you may be wanting that I won’t be able to fill for you.
You are looking for formal posed images
You aren’t comfortable showing affection
You would be upset if your child left the session a little dirty or wet
You are hoping for mostly images of everyone looking at the camera and smiling
